Originally built in 1855, the historic Ebenezer Chapel on Charles Street in Cardiff has recently undergone a major refurbishment to give the building a new lease of life.
Purchased by the Catholic Archdiocese of Cardiff in May 2012, the chapel was awarded with a heritage Lottery Fund of £1.2million for the refurbishment. The historic Ebenezer Chapel has now been transformed into an exciting venue for all occasions including business, community, arts and weddings, as well as a café to the side.
As neighbours to the Cornerstone redevelopment project, Momentum is proud to have furnished the beautifully restored chapel. Momentum worked closely with the project manager and appointed architects Petersen Williams to specify the furniture and to advise on interior design & space planning. The architects were sympathetic to the original design of the chapel and ensured original features were preserved and highlighted in the refurbishment.
This year Stua introduced additions to existing collections rather than new pieces and showed us once again that they might not have the biggest range but what they do is always to the highest of standards for design and quality.

Within an old warehouse, Moooi transformed the space in to an environment of ‘creative luxury’ – A Life Extraordinary. Within which they displayed their unique and quirky collection.
As well as many additions to existing collections, including even more to the Lottus collection, Enea launched ‘Coming Soon 2017’ at Salone del Mobile. The 'Coming Soon 2017' catalgoue states that the new items will be available when the 2018 Price List is released later this year.

Windsor house is the newest student accommodation development in Cardiff. Since its completion it has been awarded Student Accommodation of the year and has received publicity across all local press.
The cafe at Bannatyne Health Club & Spa in York recently underwent a refurbishment to create a fresh and contemporary look. Designed by RAW Design, Momentum was given the specification to supply and install the furniture.

The new STAR Hub located at Splott Park is a new £6 million purpose built building, designed by Stride Treglown Architects and built by Wilmott Dixon. The new Hub offers a range of facilities for the local community including a swimming pool, gym, fitness suite, library, multi-use community rooms and a café.

We love a trip to London to catch up with suppliers and see what’s new and this year is no exception with displays in Design Fields, Project, Additions, Platform and Icon House of Culture there was furniture and design aplenty, although the spread out layout was hard to navigate at first but we got there in the end. There was a big emphasis on cool and effective workspaces with a lot of natural finishes and streamline frames and shapes, as well as a lot of colour and texture.

With the increase in demand for String, the classic 1949 shelving system in the work environment, String Works is an exciting new collection allowing even more opportunities for the use of String in an office environment.

Sixteen years ago before the 1999 Rugby World Cup Momentum supplied 1,500 Campus chairs to the Millennium Stadium for the WRU hospitality suites just hours before the first game was set to start. Friska is a café chain in and around Bristol now with six sites and the newest has just recently opened in Bristol Harbourside. They are passionate about what they do and it is important to them that they provide comfortable yet stylish places for their customers to visit.
Clerkenwell was full of fun and new products this year, from the every extending range of contemporary showrooms, to the Farmiloe building that is the Design factory which was bursting at the seams with design and armed with coffee and ice lollies to keep us all going. The contrast between old and derelict looking building of the Farmiloe and the contemporary furniture inside works really well, it’s a shame Clerkenwell won’t hold the Design factory in the same building next year!
The Scandinavians have been working at standing height for the past 30 years and, despite considerable evidence and advice from ergonomists, we have only just acknowledged that sitting still for long periods of time can damage our spines. Movement around the office is good for blood circulation and for our health. At last, following regular articles in the press working at standing height is now accepted and is becoming increasingly popular here in the UK. Indeed, standing meetings are commonplace, recently evidenced by Sir Richard Branson.
Employers have a duty to provide the correct furniture for their employees for the benefit of their health. This should apply to schools and universities too.

Showing off the major fabric manufacturers and luxury interior goods, after 38 years of events, Decorex is a notable platform showcasing the well-known brands we all know and love to the new and up-and-coming. This year having moved to the beautiful location of Syon House, the interior only added to the spectacular designs on show.

This year celebrated 20 years of the biggest contemporary design event in the UK, with a record number of 28,000 visitors and around 450 exhibitors showcasing their products and services. What began in a tent in London back in 1995 is now not only the biggest but the best event drawing in designers from all over the world.
Displaying the works of the up and coming, the innovative and the trendsetters, 100% design is the design event to attend. Here at Momentum we have been looking forward to the event for weeks, and it did not disappoint, especially the lighting collections on display.
E15 Lighting was one of our favourites from Salone Del Mobile in Milan earlier this year. Their great new brochure showcases their new ranges and we are big fans. They have great pieces in the form of pendant lights, wall lights, table lights and floor lights. Each range stands out and the entire collection looks fresh and fun.
Lammhults have an array of great new products for 2014, from stools and tables to easy chairs and magazine racks. After showcasing new designs in Milan earlier in the year they are now available and we look forward to specifying them on new projects.
Abstracta have launched two fabulous new brochures showcasing their innovative acoustic systems, wall panels and writing surfaces. With great images and detailed technical information these are 'must have' brochures for architects and designers.
Waterloo Tea have recently opened their third café and restaurant in Cardiff. Following the success of its other two restaurants in Penarth and Penylan the new city centre location is in the beautiful Wyndham Arcade. Momentum has worked directly with the client on all three restaurants supplying the furniture, lighting and space planning.
St Enodoc is considered one of the finest links golf courses in the South West of England, located along the north Cornwall coast overlooking the Camel estuary. With 2 separate courses there is the Church course, which is the James Braid designed championship course and the shorter Hollywell course.
