It’s that time of year again when we take time out as a team to reflect on all all we have seen at Salone del Mobile, Milan Furniture Fair (9-14th April 2019), as part of our training and so we’re clued up on the latest trends and product knowledge.
And oh, how much fun we had...
The atmosphere was a little different… more crowds (386,236 attendees, over the 6 days - making that a 12% increase over the 2017 edition), more wow-factors and even more steps (21,000 on Day two - sure to be a new record for us).

First up, hands together for the NEW Cycla chair fromFast Spa outdoor collection, so brand new Fast dedicated their entire booth to it at Salone.
Designed by Alberto Lievore, its intertwined and interwoven style makes this statement chair stand up and stand out for itself, centre stage >
We think this one is a design classic in the making...
If you’re interested in seeing a design sure to stand the test of time, look no further than the Iconica chair by Capdell - its heritage said to be taken from Mediterranean and Nordic influences.
Iconic by name, iconic in comfort, confirmed by its ergonomic design - take it from us, this one is really comfortable >
We were also very taken with the Libris-drop down tables from Capdell said to be inspired the pages written within a book. The sheets of these tables are bound by a carbon fiber back, intended to remind us of the old dutch gaming tables. When it opens it surprises us with its enlarged surface as part of its double size extension.
One collection, which in our eyes stole the show, was the ENEA Kaiak family, so versatile in design it can be adapted from a domestic to contract,public and professional scenario simply depending on the choice of base >
Not to mention Enea’s outdoor Street collection, available in a number of different colour finishes.

Already an established design, it was really good to see the familiar Portus chair by Lammhults upholstered in some, let’s say, more ‘out there’ fabrics, demonstrating its versatility and adaptability to any setting.
Available in two heights across the range, the higher height offering seclusion from busy spaces, simply acoustically sound.

Pedrali did something a little special this year, centering their Milan NEWS collection around the #PedraliPalaceofWonders campaign designed to showcase Pedrali’s (you guessed it)... many wonders.
Designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, the NEW Buddy sofa from Pedrali is a welcome addition to the buddy family. Bigger than before, the buddy still captures the collection's friendly reassuring nature, just this time on a much more sizeable scale >
Intended to celebrate the fluidity of shapes the HÉRA chair, designed by Patrick Jouin, is named the ultimate natural raw material, available in a choice of Ash or American walnut, committing to be FSC-certified and finished with organic water-based paints.
The use of raw materials using certified forests and water-based is a guarantee of Pedrali’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Throwing us back to its soft lines influenced by the nineteenth century, the Pedrali Remind chair - originally brought to us last year - has been re-launched just in time to add a touch of artistic license.
The ‘just add pixels rule’ means that anyone can become an artist by creating infinite patterns: a number, a letter of the alphabet, an object, or simply a dash of contrasting colour, you decide! >
And just because Pedrali are celebrating the tenth anniversary of its lighting collection, we thought it was worth pointing out the NEW Tamara pendant, created to mark the occasion with welcome Brass and Copper finishes sure to be a popular option within contemporary spaces >
Last but not least is the is the NEW Allermuir Axyl bench, extending the existing collection and setting the benchmark for all those to follow. This was a chance to preview the design ahead of its official launch later this month at Clerkenwell Design Week (21-23 May). Keep your eyes peeled!

Pedrali's Tribeca outdoor collection has been selected for the ADI Design Index, a recognition for quality design in Italy.
Momentum are delighted to have recently furnished the brand new headquearters for the IM Group in Solihull. Working with Interior Designers at Squaredot, Momentum created a furniture package which included pieces from some of the best manufacturers in the UK & Europe worth £1.4million for the state-of-the-art site.

The Rose collection from Montbel is already a firm favourite with us, the stool and the dining chairs and armchairs are popular pieces, especially with the choices available for the legs, fabrics and upholstering.

Momentum were delighted to work with Techniquest in Cardiff Bay on the refurbishment of their offices.

We are to be able to reveal pictures taken of the recently refurbished Signature Rooms at the 4-star Budock Vean Hotel; a hotel with a picturesque setting located just a stone's throw away from the banks of the Helford River in South Cornwall.
This striking Cornish home, completed in early 2019 is already shortlisted for the Cornish Building Awards and has been featured in the Grand Designs Magazine.
The new CAFÉ at Polden for Bath University students is now open. A bright and comfortable space which is inviting for students to both work and relax in.

Adding to their portfolio another high end student accommodation development, Urbanest recently launched their new site in Vauxhall, London.
New for 2019, Ethnicraft have released new designs that broaden their collection with bolder geometrical designs.
Ethnicraft are experts in creating beautiful furniture with wood. Last year they launched the ‘Ancestors’ range which included hand crafted detail, inspired by archaic geometrical shapes and symbols found in cultures around the world. This year they are using geometry in a much more contemporary way with pieces like the Graphic Sideboard and the Oak Facette Dining Table.
Montbel have been crafting carefully designed furniture from wood and upholstery in Manzano in Italy since the late 1950’s. Their experience and knowledge of the industry and the craftsmanship they practice, along with their complete in-house manufacturing process means they only create the best quality pieces for the international contract market.

Orgatec 2018 was a big show for Akaba, launching a range of new designs and additions to existing collections.
With office design looking more and more like hospitality interiors, Akaba have launched new designs that can be specified for both office or hospitality environments.

Set up in 1979 by Jan-Olaf Torstensson, Mitab is a Swedish company that is today run by Torstenssons two sons. A family run company with a passion for creating designs for the future.
This French influenced fine dining restaurant and wine bar is set in a grand traditional oak panelled Grade I listed building, designed by William Burges in 1871 and suggested by Cadw as 'perhaps the most important 19th century house in Wales'. Momentum has worked with the owner on a number of occasions to design and furnish the different areas within the restaurant.
We were delighted to work with the Wales Millennium Centre design team again to refresh the ground floor seating areas with the stunning Lammhults Gunilla Allard designed Cinema.
Released at Salone del Mobile in Milan 2017, the Fox is an already popular collection. Fox is an elegant and comfortable design, its strong fibreglass reinforced polypropylene shell means it is built to last and is available with either wood or steel legs and a wooden curved back.

As well as many additions to existing collections, including even more to the Lottus collection, Enea launched ‘Coming Soon 2017’ at Salone del Mobile. The 'Coming Soon 2017' catalgoue states that the new items will be available when the 2018 Price List is released later this year.
As expected, the Pedrali stand was full of new pieces for the 2017 collection. Pedrali launched 7 new product collections and 4 new models to existing ranges, here’s a few of our favourites.
With new additions to existing collections, Fsocarini had a playful display at Salone del Mobile this year with a wallpaper backdrop featuring some of Foscarini’s classic designs.
Boss Design hosted two pop up showrooms over two weeks, one in Cardiff in our recently refurbished neighbours at Cornerstone and the second in Bristol at the Engine Shed. Showcasing a range of furniture from conventional office furniture, desks and task chairs to the innovative pieces like the Workhub working pod.
Originally built in 1855, the historic Ebenezer Chapel on Charles Street in Cardiff has recently undergone a major refurbishment to give the building a new lease of life.

Set on a spectacular beach on the north coast of Cornwall is The Watergate Bay Hotel, a perfect loaction for a beach holiday. Watergate Bay's Beach Hut restaurant has stunning views overlooking the sea and has recently had a major refurbishment to bring the interiors right up to date.

Windsor house is the newest student accommodation development in Cardiff. Since its completion it has been awarded Student Accommodation of the year and has received publicity across all local press.
The cafe at Bannatyne Health Club & Spa in York recently underwent a refurbishment to create a fresh and contemporary look. Designed by RAW Design, Momentum was given the specification to supply and install the furniture.
Momentum designed, supplied and project managed the refurbishment of the reception area of ACT Training at Ocean Park House in Cardiff. The brief was to create a more appealing reception and waiting area for its users with minimum disruption and more in keeping with their new brand.

The newly refurbished Garden Suites are the newest additions to the ST Moritz Hotel. The luxury rooms offer views of the hotel gardens and a terrace with lounges perfect for relaxing.
The Seahorse Club is part of Pentewan Sands Holiday Park which is located in the Cornish seaside village of Pentewan, nestled between St Austell and Mevagissey.
One of the benefits of working closely with our manufacturing partners is that we are able to take architects, designers and customers to visit factories and cultural centres around the UK & Europe. This trip was a visit to see the stunning new Pedrali showroom and distribution centre in Bergamo and the new wood factory in Manzano, near Venice .
The new STAR Hub located at Splott Park is a new £6 million purpose built building, designed by Stride Treglown Architects and built by Wilmott Dixon. The new Hub offers a range of facilities for the local community including a swimming pool, gym, fitness suite, library, multi-use community rooms and a café.
Designed by Josep Lluscà for Enea, the Coma Wood stool adds a Nordic feel as the new addition to the Coma collection.
Longhouse is the new conference centre at Longleat, situated in the Main Square of the park. The new centre, made from the redwood trees from Longleat Forest, is a fully self-contained venue and can facilitate a range of events from shows to exhibitions, dinners and conferences.
