Cardiff School of Art and Design is part of Cardiff Metropolitan University and is celebrating its 150-year anniversary in 2015. Having opened in 1865, the Cardiff School of Art and Design is the oldest school within Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Throughout its 150 years, the school has had many homes including the Oak panelled rooms above the Royal and Morgan Arcades, the Friary Building and the purpose built Howard Gardens campus. The school has now moved to Cardiff Metropolitan's Llandaff Campus, where a new spectacular building has been purpose built for the talented young art students.
The new building designed by award winning architects Austin-Smith:Lord was designed with one thing in mind – the Students who are known for being messy, noisy and creative. The relocation to the new building has meant the school is now within the top 40 Universities in the UK to study Art and Design courses.
Cardiff School of Art & Design required three separate tenders for the loose furniture, bespoke workshop furniture and the bespoke art booths and Momentum was awarded all three. Momentum specified and supplied for the three areas working closely with the management of the school.
The loose furniture sits in spaces where students and staff can relax while the workshop furniture and art booths have created personal spaces for the students to work and create their own mess without getting in the way of others.
