Penarth Pier Pavilion

Originally built in 1926 the Penarth Pier Pavilion has recently undergone major refurbishment. The £4.2 refurbishment of the pavilion reached completion and was open again to the public on 1st of December 2013.

As one of few remaining Victorian Piers in Wales, the project involved a careful refurbishment of the art deco style Grade II listed pavilion. This refurbishment intended to spark a resurgence of interest in the pavilion returning it the centre of the Penarth community. It has since been inundated with visitors and has won awards including the Community Benefit award and the Project of the Year 2014 by RICS awards 2014.

Retaining the Art Deco structure of the building Purcell Architects and Penarth Pier Pavilion along with Momentum sought to introduce a contemporary feel to the interiors which resulted in the specs for the products being light and open to make the most of its idyllic location. It was important that the design and furniture were uncomplicated though were of fantastic quality to uphold the high usage that it would receive in the pavilion. Momentum supplied furniture including stools for the viewing gallery, tables and chairs for the meeting room (pictured above), table and chairs for the café and the outdoor furniture.
